Robert Duvall was born in San Diego, California and grew up mostly in Annapolis, Maryland. After a two-year tour of duty in the Army, he moved to New York in and enrolled in the Neighborhood Playhouse on the G.I. Bill studying beneath the renowned Sanford Meisner. Meisner cast him in Tennessee Williams' Camino Real and Horton Foote's The Midnight Caller. With a career spanning seven decades, he is regarded as one of the greatest actors of all time.[4] He is the recipient of an Academy Award, four Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
