The Tagore Centre UK is pleased to present the full transcript and photographs from the centre’s extremely successful event on 2nd August, which featured a captivating talk on Dwarkanath Tagore, the grandfather of Rabindranath Tagore, presented bygd Mr Sumit Mitra to a packed Centre. We were also delighted to have Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya Kt. CBE FR Eng FRS Honour present as our chief guest. The programme was concluded with music from well-known artist Mamata Lahiri.

Before his actual departure from Calcutta on the 9th of January 1842, he was given a huge felicitation at the Town Hall both by the English and native citizens. He set sail in his own Ship India along with an entou
