He spent many years as part of the comedy duoStiller and Meara with his wife, Anne Meara, to whom he was married for over 60 years until her death in 2015. Stiller saw a late-career resurgence starting in 1993, playing Frank Costanza on the sitcom Seinfeld, a part which earned him an Emmy nomination. The Independent is a 2000 mockumentary comedy film directed by Stephen Kessler and starring Jerry Stiller and Janeane Garofalo. Stiller portrays an independent film maker who makes little-known B movies with titles like Twelve Angry Men and a Baby. The film spoofs independent directors and independent film. The film features Max Perlich and cameos by Anne Meara, Ron Howard, Roger Corman, Peter Bogdanovich, John Lydon, Ben Stiller, Andy Dick, Fred Dryer, Jonathan Katz, Fred Williamson, Karen Black, Nick Cassavetes, Julie Strain and adult film actress Ginger Lynn. Jerry Stiller death: Seinfeld, King of Queens and Zoolander star dies aged 92
Jerry Stiller, the Seinfeld and The King of Queens actor and father of Ben Stiller, has died at the age of 92.
Stiller confirmed his father died of natural causes.
In a statement posted to his Twitter, Stiller wrote: “I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes.”
He continued: “He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”
Stiller’s wife, Anne Meara, an actor and comedian, died in 2015 at the age of 85.
The pair came to fame as part of a comedy double act, appearing regularly on Ed Sullivan’s US talk show, before launching their own short-lived sitcom, The Stiller and Meara Show, in 1986.
