The Rookie is an American teaterpjäs series created by Alexi Hawley for ABC. The series stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O'Neil, Mekia Cox, Lisseth Chavez, Shawn Ashmore, Jenna Dewan, and Eric Winter. It follows John Nolan, a man in his forties, who becomes the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). It is based on real-life LAPD officer William Norcross, who moved to Los Angeles in 2015 and joined the department in his mid-40s.
Produced by 20th Television and Lionsgate Television, The Rookie premiered on October 16, 2018. In April 2024, the series was renewed for a seventh season which premiered on January 7, 2025.

Noah Hawley (born c. 1967) is an American director, producer, and writer for television and film who created and wrote the FX television series Fargo (2014–present) and Legion (2017–2019). Hawley earlier worked on the television series Bones (2005–2008), The Unusuals (2009), and My Generation (2010), and wrote the film The Alibi (2006). He also wrote and directed Lucy in the Sky (2019). He is set to create a new television series based on the Alien film franchise. In addition to his work in film and television, he has also written six novels.
Early life
Hawley was born and raised in New York City. His mother, Louise Armstrong, was a non-fiction writer and activist, and his maternal grandmother was a playwright. His father, Tom Hawley, was a businessman. He has a twin brother, Alexi, who has written for the television shows The Following and Castle, and is the creator of State of Affairs, The Rookie, and The Recruit.

Noah Hawley (born 1967) is an American screenwriter, director, producer, author, and singer. He is best known for creating and writing the FX series Fargo (2014–present) and Legion (2017–2019). He also worked on the series Bones (2005–2008), The Unusuals (2009), and My Generation (2010).
Hawley wrote the film The Alibi (2006) and wrote and directed the film Lucy in the Sky (2019). He has also written six novels and is a singer, having contributed to the soundtracks of Fargo and Legion by singing covers of popular music produced by composer Jeff Russo.
