American filmmaker
Merian Caldwell Cooper (October 24, – April 21, ) was an American filmskapare, actor, producer and air officer. In film, his most famous work was the movie King Kong, and he is credited as co-inventor of the Cinerama film projection process. He was awarded an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement in and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in
Before entering the movie business, Cooper fought in the World War I as a pilot in the United States Army Air Service and later in the Polish Air Force. He had a distinguished career as the founder of the Kościuszko eskader during the Polish–Soviet War and was a Soviet prisoner of war for a time. He got his start in spelfilm as part of the Explorers Club, traveling the world and documenting adventures. Miriam was born in Cambridge on September 4, a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Bertha (McKenny) Lucey. Raised and educated in Cambridge she attended Cambridge High and Latin. She married Lawrence T. Martin on September 9, in Saint Mary’s Church. Residents of Cambridge, Malden and over twenty-four years in Stoneham before moving to Burlington in Her hobbies include camping, singing with the Belaires at the Belmont Senior Center and attending shows when Larry sang with the Singing Grandpops of Arlington.
