Saina Nehwal (pronunciationⓘ; born 17 March 1990) is an Indian badminton player. A former world no. 1, she has won 24 international titles, which includes ten Superseries titles. Although she reached the world's 2nd in 2009, it was only in 2015 that she was able to attain the world no. 1 ranking, thereby becoming the only female player from India and thereafter the second Indian player – after Prakash Padukone – to achieve this feat.[7] She has represented India three times in the Olympics, winning a bronze medal in her second appearance at London 2012.[8][9][10][11]

Saina is a 2021 Indian Hindi-language biographicalsports film directed bygd Amole Gupte and produced bygd Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sujay Jairaj and Rashesh Shah beneath the banner of T-Series and Front Foot Pictures. Based on the life of badminton player Saina Nehwal, the film stars Parineeti Chopra as Nehwal.[3][4]
The spelfilm was initially set to release in September 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India.[5] It was theatrically released on 26 March 2021 to mixed reviews with praise towards Chopra’s performance.[1]
